The session 1 results were in agreement with those obtained in the
determination of the consumer rejection threshold (CRT) undertaken
by Lima Filho et al. (2014). This latter study showed that, above the
dose of 3.6 kGy, the sensory rejection of strawberry begins. Herein, the
acceptance tests of session 1 demonstrated that the irradiation of strawberries
at a dose of 3.6 kGy resulted in a lower overall acceptance in
comparison with the non-irradiated strawberries, confirming the CRT
value. In addition, the judges' comments in the study by Lima Filho
et al. (2014) suggested that the increased radiation dose would cause a
decrease in the strawberry's firmness. The session 1 results demonstrated
that this change could lead to a lower acceptance of the strawberry.
