We are in the middle of a very unfortunate time for aviation in general, and for Malaysia in particular. The fate of Flight MH370 is still unknown, and all realistic possibilities are not pleasant. Regardless of how we compete out there in the marketplace against MAS or any other airlines, this is not the time for us to make things worse by unfounded speculations or idle chatter and spreading of rumors or theories or guesses or putdowns.
The management team and I have been very restrained on this matter. We share the sorrow of the people impacted, and the pain of trying to understand what happened. This is not the time to look smart or superior or smug.
I am asking all of you to also be very restrained in making comments, especially in the social media. Feel free to express sympathy, but do not pass on any comments that can make you and the company look bad. As a staff of AirAsia, any of your comments can easily be attributed to AirAsia, even if you are making personal comments. Think before you say or post anything – if you can’t think of anything positive about this matter, than don’t say or post anything.
There have been some comments already in the social media which are insensitive or just plain stupid, and which are unfortunately being associated with AirAsia because they are posted by our staff. We take a serious view on such matters, and will take disciplinary actions if we feel the staff involved have exercised poor judgment.
I will not allow AirAsia’s good name be dragged down by some silly or stupid or malicious comments from our staff. Please exercise good judgment, and if you don’t have anything positive or useful to say, then don’t say anything
