The first list is of the various states. Some states do not have a threatened or endangered species list or do not
include any frogs. Most of the states listed give some protection to the species on their lists. Some species on the
state lists are not rare over their entire range, but may be at the edge where a particular state is located. The second
list is the USFWS Endangered species list, which includes US and non-US species that are threatened or endangered
over their entire range. The USFWS does provide protection to those listed species. Contact the USFWS to get a
copy of the law. The third list is from the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
This is a list of species that need special export and import documentation to be sold and/or shipped. The fourth and
last list is the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. This list does not have any legal
backing, but gives the best global list of anuran species that are in trouble
