The major objective of this work was to investigate whether
biological control and plant growth promotion and protection
could be achieved through application of endophytic Trichoderma
species isolated from a medicinal plant. From the biological control
perspective, it was demonstrated that both Trichoderma species
isolated from Terminalia catappa were able to inhibit significantly
the growth of F. solani, a causative agent of the damping off/root
rot of common bean. The determination of R and PBCI growth
parameters further confirmed the results (Pakdaman et al., 2013)
in which Trichoderma atroviridae showed the overall best potential
as antagonist of F. solani.
