In previous studies, “active use of local services” is described as a promoting factor of family empowerment
and a stress-reducing factor for parents (Dun, 2001; Koren, 1992). When mothers who underuse local services are
consulted, the reason for underutilization should be determined first and intervention should be carefully considered
and performed in the perspective of family’s needs and local status. Most of mothers argued that interventions are
focus on child disability and service ignores family and mother’s needs in raising and caring of chide with autism.
Most mothers take care of child without an adequate knowledge that is needed for therapeutic education due to
lack of experience in raising a child with autism. It is suggested that expert assess and recompense for lack of
information, for example, specific ways of dealing with child, behaving with sibling, participating in child
intervention.
