Aubmated biomedical systems, which include some method of 2-Dimensional imaging, may require a reliable, real time feedback system to track and stabilize the imaging optical path. Generally an initial image is recorded as reference template, and proceeding images are correlated to the reference template to yield information necessary for tracking. Due to the high processing power required for image correlation, a dedicated Optical Correlator may be necessary to achieve the necessary results at high frame rates and a small fraction of the cost of an equivalent dedicated computer.
