Job Satisfaction
Job satisfaction is one of the most studied issues in the human resource literature.
It can be defined as
‘‘the pleasurable emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one’s job as achieving or facilitating ones’ job values’’ (Locke, 1969, p. 317).
In hotel firms, frontline employees have direct interaction with customers.
Customer perception, satisfaction and loyalty are developed during such interactions.
Frontline employees should themselves be satisfied in order to deliver quality service and to satisfy customers (Spinelli & Canavos, 2000).
