Past students describe Sarah Jane Gray as "supportive and knowledgable" and "an incredibly gifted teacher."
Explore color, light, and design as you piece together small tiles of colored glass to create an intricate and unique stained glass window. Mosaic is the simplest and most forgiving of stained glass techniques, offering immediate and stunning results to beginners as well as experienced artists. This class will cover the elements of color theory and design, as well as the techniques and process of creating a stained glass mosaic window. All experience levels welcome. Ages 14+
What will class time be like? Will I need to work outside of class?
We will begin class with brief demonstrations, followed by independent work time with one-on-one feedback and instruction. Most participants should anticipate working outside of class time to complete their projects.
What can I expect to create?
Participants can create one mosaic glass window sized 2 – 4 square feet.
What should I bring to class?
All necessary materials will be provided. Students may bring dimensions of a window at home where they plan to display their completed projects. Closed-toe shoes should be worn in the studio at all times.
This class is part of the Grünewald Guild's Summer 2014 Program. Click here to learn more about our theme, Gather, as well as the weekly schedule and a full list of housing options.
