Fertilizer blends were made to match the MSW compost with respect to total N, P2O5, and K2O in the compost, with the assumption of 50% (MSW1), 25% (MSW2), and 12.5% (MSW3) total N availability from the compost, respectively, and were based on the lowbush blueberry nitrogen requirement of 50 kg ha_1. The 2001 compost application of 50 kg N ha_1 also supplied 12.4 kg P ha_1 (28.2 as P2O5) and 15.9 kg K ha_1 (19.1 as K2O). The 2002 compost supplied 15.3 kg P ha_1 (41.8 as P2O5) and 16.8 kg K ha_1 (20.2 as K2O). Inorganic fertilizer blends were made to match the compost N–P–K
values in each year by mixing the proper amounts of 34–0–0 for N, 0–46–0 for P2O5 and 0–0–60 for K2O. Compost treatments provided the equivalent of 100, 200 and 400 kg of total N ha_1, respectively.
