A recursive equation describing technological factors affecting starch film’s tensile strength was
obtained. When TBS, GLY, and PEG concentrations, and starching time increased, tensile strength
increased and vice versa. Adding additives to film forming process had a scientific and practical
significance.
In addition, using Excel-solver, cassava starch slurry concentration of 10.7%, GLY of 3.5%, PEG of
0.35% and starching time of 16 minutes and 10 seconds was obtained as optimal conditions for film
forming.
TBS-PG film met the standard 867 of Ministry of Health. The duration to fully self-decompose in
water and solid was two and seven days, respectively. However, it limited humidity absorption and
release.
Finally, we have verified TBS-PG’s application in sesame, banana and sticky rice packaging and
after 30 days of examination, products with TBS-PG package maintain good quality and hygiene.
