In conclusion,DESs were successfully prepared using ChCl and waste
glycerol from acid-catalyzed biodiesel syntheses. These DESs had densities
and viscosities comparable to DESs prepared with commercial glycerol.
The DES prepared with 35% ChCl served as a competent solvent for
the esterification of palmitic acid, and was successfully reused for five
runs. Additionally, these DESs extract methanol from crude biodiesel
mixtures, improving their potential as a value-added product from
waste glycerol.
