CaS cells are more thermotolerant and AH cells are less thermotolerant than vector control cells.
Thermotolerance was determined in five independent lines containing each construct (CaS, AH and V) using an assay (Experimental procedures) which measured cell viability and growth following heat treatment. Relative growth was calculated as the percentage increase in dry weight of the heat treated cells, relative to the growth of the same cell line at 23°C. Averaged values for three independent experiments for each line are presented and standard errors of the means are indicated.
