Many people would love the opportunity to work as a front-line caregiver, and have the innate compassion and human ability that it would take for the job. But what about those who are new to Canada or for whom English isn’t their native language?
Stenberg College offers students the unique opportunity to study English as a second language (ESL) while they pursue healthcare assistant training. The Health Care Assistant for ESL Learners program begins with English language studies to provide a solid foundation for English speaking and listening skills. Once students begin the health care assistant program, ongoing English language training is provided to support and improve the quality of their studies.
While communication skills are important in any field, we will take a look at how they apply specifically to a healthcare assistant career.
