analysts...Technology will become more important than ever in achieving economies of scale, enabling
banks to operate at lower costs... Most industries in the United States and Britain are halving their
number of full-service branch offices to cut costs and promote efficiency.
Banks are instead increasing their outlets by using electronic services such as computer banking, telebanking,
ATM’s, Internet, and Point-of-Service sales. All these changes will take time to implement
because we are dealing with people...We may have to wait five to ten years before people become
comfortable with this change.
