Mesembryanthemum crystallinum ex. Gran Canaria - seedlings Calandstr, Leiden, NL 28 Jul 2010 08 Leo
These seedlings popped up in this pot containing a bunch of Washingtonia palm seedlings from Gran Canaria, the Canary Islands.
Its hard to tell, but initially I thought they were Delosperma cooperi, because they resemble that species greatly (note the elongate, shiny, papillose leaves), and because I thought I read somewhere that this species was naturalized in the Canary Islands; however, I no longer can find a reference for that, so it seems I cannot be too certain about this. The genus Delosperma has apparently naturalized in the Canary Islands (fide Flora de Canarias), but I cannot see exactly which species of Delosperma. D. cooperi is probably the most commonly sold Delosperma in Europe...
