Malaysia assures China of security
Contents of a new: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will give his assurance to China that security in Malaysia would not be compromised despite the visa-free entry for Chinese tourists traveling to Malaysia for less than 15 days, New Straits Times reported. Speaking in Beijing on Tuesday, Zahid said when China’s Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun visited him in Kuala Lumpur, they discussed this matter in details during a joint working group, Zahid said. Chinese authorities will provide Malaysian police and immigration officers with a list of suspects and their biometrics, said Zahid, who is on a four-day working visit to Beijing. He said this at the Visa Malaysia centre in Beijing on Tuesday. He arrived in China on Monday night, accompanied by senior officials from the Foreign Ministry and Home Ministry. Zahid would later meet with Guo to discuss, among others, the implementation of the e-visa facility for Chinese tourists entering Malaysia, and the issue of tackling transnational crime and counter terrorism.
