The hatching process was clearly affected by the temperature treatment in both experiments, as shown in Table 1. In both experiments, the average incubation times to occurrence of IP (P < 0.0001), EP (P < 0.0001), and hatch (P < 0.0001) were significantly delayed for the high- and low-temperature groups compared with the control group. In addition, the time to IP, EP, and hatch (in experiment 1 only) was delayed more for the high-temperature group than for the low-temperature group.
