The results help to explain why some residents perceive turbines as beautiful in motion and not as beautiful while not in motion. A strong majority of respondents found the turbines beautiful while in motion compared to not in motion and the drop in beauty perceived when turbines are not in motion was positively correlated with belief in the economic benefits of wind energy, place attachment, wind energy attitudes, and satisfied expectations of wind energy. Persons who most valued the economic benefits of the wind farm project where the most likely to perceive a lack of beauty in motionless turbines. These differences support [22]research that shows motion as a sign of economic generation and productivity compared to the static turbines which can be interpreted as a lost economic opportunity. These relationships further suggest the role of economic productivity in promoting favor-able attitudes towards wind energy. A strong positive relationship is also present between wind energy attitudes, expectations and the degree to which those expectations were met. Although most respondents from both counties indicated that the wind energy project did not totally fulfill their expectations, 92% of the respondents support wind energy development in the United States, with 91.2% supporting further wind energy development in their County.
