Research design
Two traditionally separate methodologies were used in this
research. Firstly, the quasi-experimental design that
involved pretest and posttest comparisons between groups
using tests to measure outcomes of the intervention in
nomothetic terms. Secondly, qualitative research that
involved focusing on individuals using interpretative
assessment tools such as interviews and questionnaires to
ascertain the processes involved in the intervention and/or
the perceptions and views of participants. As the two types
of approaches can be used to tackle different research questions, this provided data not only about the outcomes of the
intervention but also the processes involved in using it.
