In this chapter, I discuss three issues that emerged from the collective
analyses of the six case studies of the participants’ English learning histories. First,
I emphasize fundamental issues concerning the characteristics of the participants,
their motivational development, and their learning. Second, I explore seven
motivational sources salient in the participants’ English learning histories. Third, I
examine the initial proposition 1 concerning the participants’ sustained motivation
and discuss a new concept, commitment to learning
