There were many comments on the difficult balance of finding
activities that motivated the residents to participate. At many care
centres for older people, the activities are somewhat tranquil. With
the exergames, something was happening there and then and the
outcome was unclear. Something was at stake—the participants
could win or lose. This situation was in stark contrast to the usual
routine at these care centres, where days can be filled with the
same routine without much variation, challenge, excitement or
muscle tension.
