To compare the Atom processor's relatively simple pipeline structure with a more complex, and higher performing processor, students compared the previous floating point CPI versus array size results for the Atom N2600, to data collected on an Intel i7-2860QM. Results of this comparison are shown in Figure 5. Students observed that while CPI for the Atom processor was about two (2), over an identical range of array sizes on the more powerful i7, CPI values were slightly more than one-third (0.35). his CPI value corresponded to a pipeline efficiency of 285% on the 17.
