Introduction The Ministry of Education in Malaysia advocates the integration of the Geometer’s SketchPad (GSP) in the teaching and learning of mathematics, particularly in the area of geometry (Malaysian Ministry of Education, 2003). The GSP is one of the dynamic geometry software (DGS) programmes that can be used in constructing and investigating mathematical objects. This dynamic environment has three important attributes (Finzer & Jackiw, 1998). Firstly, students can directly manipulate mathematical objects represented on the computer screen. For instance, as shown in Figure 1, students can point at a vertex of a square using a mouse and directly drag it from point A to point B.
