Railroads, Motorcoach and Cat Rental Industries
A part from the personal automobile and travel by air, tourists may also reach
attractions and destinations by rail and motorcoach as well as by rental cars. In certain areas of
the world, the primary transportation modes are trains and buses. Each of the three has
common characteristics, but these are outnumbered by their differences, including the clientele
that they primarily serve, their geographic coverage, how they approach tourism, and their
ownership structure. Although not as important in terms of size as personal vehicles and airlines

accommodating travelers on limited budgets and also by providing accessibility to hard-to-reach
destinations. Understanding the business and operating models of these secondary but
important sectors will complete a student’s knowledge of tourism transportation modes
