Some of the biofloc produced in the BFT tanks were collected and
stored. Dried biofloc has been used as an ingredient to replace fishmeal
and soybean protein in shrimp feed (Azim and Little, 2008).
Because both systems were operated under laboratory conditions,
the amount of electricity used per kilogram of fish biomass gain was
great; therefore, using the same amount is perhaps impractical for even-
tually scaling up such a system. Thus, these valuesmust be alteredwhen
these systems are used in actual production.
