3. Results and discussion
3.1. Cell physiology of Klebsiella pneumoniae under
different aeration conditions
The cell physiology was compared under different aeration
conditions. The anaerobic condition was conducted by aerating
0.25 vvm nitrogen gas to the broth. The micro-aerobic conditions
were conducted by aerating 0.25 vvm air and 1 vvm air,
respectively. After lag phase of cell growth, the dissolved oxygen
concentration decreased rapidly to zero. The sufficient aerobic
condition was controlled to keep the dissolved oxygen at 10% by
changing the agitation speed automatically at 1 vvm air aeration.
The results are shown in Fig. 3 and Table 1.
