The utilization of algal biomass for bioethanol production is
undoubtedly a sustainable and eco-friendly approach for renewable
biofuel production. As the importance of microalgae in biodiesel
production is growing, an equal or more attention is needed for
the efficient use of these easily cultivable microorganisms to generate
the green fuel bioethanol. There are possibilities to culture
the algal strains even in marine or other waste waters for bioethanol
production. Genetic engineering of selected strains to survive
in adverse conditions and development of new bioreactor for effective
production and recovery of ethanol are necessary to generate
fuel for the exploding consumption
