Read these notes and answer the question
Americans dump oil to contaminate about 1.5 trillion gallons of water every year. There are also cars, urban construction, businesses, agriculture, and residents that contribute to polluting water.
As rain falls and snow melts on the earth, it collects unhealthy materials. Unlike water that goes into underground pipe carrying waste water, this water is not treated so all the bad water goes into the sea. Pouring water and pollutants in the channel at the edge of the roof is also bad. Toxins and paint can kill fish. Some businesses also don’t dispose of chemicals properly. Instead, they dump it in rivers, lakes, and sea. This takes away nature’s ability to filter out contaminants before they reach larger bodies of water.
