Diverse methods were used to involve as many people as possible, with different opinions, involved in the survey. The RAS questionnaire was launched online via “Bristol University Survey
Service” as part of the university’s utilities Companies were approached to participate in the survey, after searching for them via the Internet, e.g. viewing each country’s government’s websites and approaching different experts within the industry. At the same time, a link to the survey was posted in several social networks and websites (e.g. European Aquaculture Society (EAS) membership forum, LinkedIn, Aquaculture hub, University of Stirling – Institute of Aquaculture website front-page). In addition, confidential interviews were undertaken together with production managers from different farms in different countries and to experts with different backgrounds (e.g. consultants, researchers, and system suppliers).
