This situation is an internal source one that has been developed over years of observation and experience. When Armand Bombardier introduced the “Skidoo” to North American winter sport (and a new word for the English language ) it was a matter of the right product at the right place at the right time. The demographics of the United States and Canada in the 1960s, and eventually the rest of the world, were ready for a fast, mobile, expensive, winter sports vehicle. Indeed, Bombardier became the preeminent builder of snowmobiles around the world with plants in the United States and Europe, as Canada. But Armand Bombardier had been building rubber-tracked winter vehicles for over thirty years. His first “Bombardier” vehicle was used to deliver the mail in 1936 in Quebec. It was his years of experience in the design and engineering of a snow vehicle that led to success in the consumer market.
