You received a phone call looking for your boss. There are times when you can dial your boss's extension number to reach him/her. However, when you have to call your boss to get him/her on the phone, how would you address him/her? Usually, Koreans say “Bujang-nim (부장님),” adding “nim(님)” to the position title, which shows respect. Also, you may say “Kim Bujang-nim(부장님),” which combines the boss’s last name with the position title. In the modern competitive business world, there are instances when your boss is a couple of years younger than you. In this case, you still need to say “Bujang-nim(부장님)” or last name plus “Bujang-nim(부장님).” There are very rare instances when an older person addresses a younger boss by just the last name and the title.
