The study of “Development Health Promotion Model for Holistic Care of Diabetic
Patients in Community of Puranavas Temple” has three objectives: to study self-care of diabetic
patients; to develop health promotion model of holistic care in diabetic patients; and to apply the
results in the nursing course of health promotion in order to promote health protection and caring
chronic illness in thecommunity. Samples are 20 diabetic patients in Puranavas Temple. Research
instrument is health behavior questionnaires including food consumption, exercise, rest, stress
management, continuing care, and empowerment activities based on Pender’s Health promotion
theory.Research methodology divided into3 steps:(1)studying self-care model of diabetic patients
by analyzing personal data and self-care behavior; (2) planning, setting self-health promotion and
developing health promotion model by interviewing, groupdiscussion,participatorylearning process,and
workshop for setting ultimate goals; (3) Evaluating health promotion model by comparing before
and after the interventions. Statistical analysis on personal data consists of enumerating frequency
and percentages, comparing health behavior marks gains before and after the experiment, statistical
analysis on outcomes from scope, mean values,standard deviations, paired T- test, and content
analysis.
