4. Discussion
This was the first study to evaluate the association between
anxiety symptoms and improvement on subjective and objective
neurocognitive functions during antidepressant treatment. The
study revealed two important findings. First, during treatment of
depression, anxiety symptoms were significantly associated with
improvement in subjective and objective neurocognitive functions
such as delayed memory and reasoning ability. Second, despite
improvement of anxiety symptoms not all types of objective
neurocognitive functions will improve concurrently, especially
immediate memory and commission error.
