In this context, the revised 2014–2020 National Strategic
Plan for waste management (after the new EU Waste Directive
is released) should provide a more efficient framework for
a positive evolution of solid waste management, by: strongly
supporting the separate collection of waste in all areas of the
country, moving the treatment options balance from disposal
towards “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” technologies (material recycling
and Waste-to Energy techniques especially for MSW),
increase the involvement of the stakeholders interested in the
solid waste management system.
