How do teachers feel about this discrepancy between their measurement
training and the measurement demands of their jobs? The
small amow1t of research in this area suggests that teachers feel that
they have sufficient measurement skills. Gullickson (1984) surveyed
391 teachers regarding their measurement-related attitudes. He concluded
that (a) teachers perceived their knowledge of testing and
measurement as being adequate and (b) most teachers believe that
they have learned about testing and measurement through their
classroom experiences.
