Overall, responding students showed a mixed level of knowledge of the culture of elder abuse and neglect (see Table 2). A majority of students (66.6 percent) answered false to the statement “Abuse and neglect of older adults are rare” (Q9), and 84.1 percent answered false to the statement “Mistreatment in later life only happens to people who are very frail” (Q12).
