Can local management provide PROOF that this support had been provided. ????
One member of staff felt so angry that they had to resort to getting support from their local MP who wrote to Mike Brown. Mike Brown responded and informed that there is a computer in every mess room??? (Where are the computers)
This is very insulting and a poor substitute for local management demonstrating leadership.
A good and clear example of recent is the preferencing process. As many staff do not have intranet access many were unaware of the process until the last minute and staff even at the last moment had still not been given this information. Even less being given any meaningful information, so that informed choices could be made.
2)The situation only gets worse when staff find out that software on the POMS have changed and whilst some vague indication might have been provided in advance little has been communicated to all staff.
Since this time it has become known that a small number of staff were sent to Ashfield house last November for a briefing and yet it would have been all to easy to have passed this information onto all staff in a prompt and timely manner. Some staff claim they have seen a booklet sent around but what is the point of this booklet ??
If it was generally known that this information was available then we could at least all have searched for this information.
The changed software was rolled out initially on the POMS in early January and yet staff in general knew little of this. As usual we have to worked things out by trial and error. Even when the enhanced software changes started to take place little support or information was forthcoming.
One of the staff who went to the briefings was supposed to have been around briefing other staff but admitted that he would have got around sooner had been released to carry out said duties.
This is another opportunity lost in communicating with staff.
3) There appears to be little indication as to the roles of different staff in the office and their roles?
Considering that a large number of staff do not have intranet access where are the changes for staff making contact regarding personnel matters.
Who is in charge ?
The role of local administrative staff seems more unclear than ever.
Administrative staff seems to work strange hours and are more difficult than ever to contact. Stories/reports exist of staff finding administrative staff in the office in the evening only to be told that these are not office hours?
Administrative staff seem unable or unwilling to answer emails and in general it is very difficult to make contact?
It is also unclear as the role of administrative staff. Indeed there have been occasions when these administrative staff have been making what appear to be managerial decisions with out any kind of real dialogue or indeed accountability.
It is strange that administrative staff are difficult to contact and yet these staff have are able to use emergency phone numbers to contact staff regarding duty changes. ???
Who is in charge and providing LEADERSHIP
Who is accountable
There is supposed to be a two way relationship,
i) staff come into work on clearly defined terms and conditions and expected to behave in a prescribed manner
ii) yet this relationship is not reciprocal
It is very clear that there is a box ticking mentality in existence without any real desire to lead the staff.
