The project aims to identify essential adjustments to regulatory practices in order to attract private investments, increase agency effectiveness, and promote effective wastewater treatment.
It aims to build a fully-functioning partnership between key agencies responsible for environmental management and pollution control. This would promote investments in facilities that reduce land-based pollution in the East Asia Seas.
The project will help remove institutional, financial and technical barriers that limit investment in pollution control in Metro Manila by:
Identifying of barriers to cooperation among sector agencies, and to non-conventional investments in sewerage and sanitation;
Providing assistance to the Metropolitan Water and Sewerage System in pursuing higher investments in sewerage and sanitation and in piloting suitable technology for septage disposal; and
Providing technical assistance to help with project management, monitoring, evaluation and dissemination.
