The 1st person narrative is usually rather difficult to handle throughout a film, although it can be maintained in some shots. Consequently, this perspective is often abandoned (as for example in One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest where the storyteller and main character in the book is reduced to a minor (albeit important) character, or modified (as in High Fidelity, where the narrator and main character in the book is still the narrator of the film - speaks his mind directly to the camera as in a David Attenborough documentary in some scenes, while other scenes are more objective).
