Palm oil was also found to have potential for fruit fly
control. Palm oil is reported to have activity against several
stored-product insect pests, including C. maculatus (Abulude
et al. 2007), Callosobruchus chinensis (Linnaeus) (Khaire
et al. 1992) and Sitophilus oryzae (Linnaeus) (Ivbijaro et al.
1985). The application of this oil, however, may be hindered
by the fact that this oil is semisolid or solid at room temperature. The possible consequence is that palm oil solution may
block the spraying equipment.
