fasciatus associated
with the grasslands of submerged vegetation, the piranha (palometa) (Serrasalmus
spp.) and the tararira (Hoplias malabaricus), which is one of the most conspicuous
carnivores in the Lagunas del Iberá. The tararira is not exploited, and its presence in
the lake limits the expansion of other species of greater commercial interest.
