Where: Netherlands: Leiden
When: Summer
Curriculum Highlights: Courses are taught by local faculty and practicing artists. In order to guide the creative process, each week will focus on one theme, to be explored with assignments and homework throughout all three disciplines. This is complemented by weekly excursions to cities and shows of current interest as well as books and illustrations with a focus on Dutch and European contemporary Art and Design in a broad sense. During the summer program one or more themes help guide the creative process, like Feet, Hands, Heart and Head. At the end of the course students are expected to create a final piece in which two of the provided disciplines (of their choice) are combined into one work.
Overview: The Leiden summer program is a short but intense program with an emphasis on the individual development of the students (given their different levels and background), combining and intertwining Graphic Design, Drawing and Photography. You won’t need any Dutch language experience or previous art training for Leiden’s summer art program. Select two of three art courses, taught by local faculty and practicing artists. Use the Dutch landscape as your classroom.
