The potential of digital participatory cultures in transforming individuals
and societies, and the importance of encouraging creativity and developing
an engaged citizenry can no longer be ignore by today’s education systems.
However, it should be noted that despite their promise as learning platforms,
most social networks and media-sharing tools such as Facebook and YouTube
operate without clear pedagogical goals (Snickars and Vonderau 2009). Much research is lacking in this area and new pedagogies that cater for prosumer
learners are needed
