Value Should Increase
Given the extremely limited experience in
resales of NGVs thus far, it is difficult to extrapolate
their impact on NGV markets. Nonetheless,
at this point is seems clear that bifueled NGVs
will have essentially similar resale values to their
gasoline and diesel counterparts. Once CAAA
mandates become effective, we anticipate the
additional compressed natural gas fuel components
on a bifueled NGV would add value as do
other added refinements of significance in key
submarkets (e.g., convertible conversions, upgraded
sound systems)."*
Overall, in the future, given the profusion of
NGV technologies and their rapidly expanding
numbers, we anticipate a fluid resale market in
NGVs. Finally, we conclude that, if bifueled
NGVs are to be resaleable, it is imperative that
they meet federal and state emissions requirements,
so that new owners are able to make use
of their advantages under the CAAA.
Further Strategies
This article covers only two of the several
areas that are possible to increase the sales of
NGVs.
