The book has a clear structure. The OGSM methodology is explained and the four steps to streamline your business plan are exemplified. OGSM starts with a clear and powerful articulation of the qualitative goal of the organization, the Objective. This Objective is translated into quantitative Goals. Strategies describe the specific routes to reach the Objective. The Measures consist of a Dashboard and Actions. The Dashboard measures whether each strategy is on the right track. In the Actions, the strategies are translated into concrete action steps. By means of several (fictitious) cases, the book explains how to combine vision with action. The greatest virtue of the OGSM methodology is that it makes clear how an organization can be mobilized to both define and execute its strategic choices in order to achieve its objective. The book has clearly no intention to explain what kind of strategies exist, neither does it tell you which strategy to choose in certain circumstances. The OGSM methodology is about structure and ‘The One Page Business Strategy’ purely focuses on how to develop a strategic plan that will also be executed. The book is not about the concerning content of the plan, hence it that light, success is not guaranteed. In addition, conformable to the OGSM methodology, also fundamentally wrong chosen goals and strategies can be defined on one page. This carries of course the limitation of OGSM. It is a methodology, not a solution to strategic issues.
