Women who choose a home
birth are less likely to suff er from
postpartum haemorrhage (PPH), it
has been revealed.
A new report concludes that the
over-use of medical intervention
techniques during childbirth may
be partly to blame for excessive
bleeding after birth.
It states that reliance on
drugs to speed up contractions,
surgical incisions to ease delivery
and emergency CS may be
compromising the safety of women
in labour.
The results show that the
chances of PPH are ‘signifi cantly
higher’ for a planned hospital birth
