Mature green healthy tomatoes of uniform size, harvested from unsprayed plants were dipped in an aqueous solution containing 0.02% (v/v) hexanal and 0.02% (v/v) EFF for 2.5 min, both containing 2 mM hexanal. Composition of EFF and hexanal stock solutions was as given above (Section 2.1.1). The experimental design was completely randomized having three replications of 15 fruit each.
