To eliminate uncorrelated signals which are distributed on both readout sides equally, additional compensation sources have been added. These sources inject additional charges in both readout terminals in order to instantaneously
compensate for the saturation effects of uncorrelated signals during the integration process. This compensation means
that the dynamic range of the following readout stage can be completely used by the correlated signal information only. In other words, the readout circuitry of the pixel ideally sees only the correlated signal and no unwanted back ground
DC component. To offer a wide range of applications and flexibility this concept has been implemented in most of our
PG-PMD arrays (Figure 17).
