Silk of Bombyx mori a naturally occurring polymer has been used in textile manufacture and as suture material for centuries. Various studies showed that the silk proteins can accelerate wound healing, improve adhesion and spreading of keratinocytes and fibroblasts and promote the growth and development of skin tissue. The earlier studies on silk proteins have call attention the possible role of silk proteins for wound healing, but there are limited reports confirming the role of silk protein as a wound healing agent.
