Routinely, the presence of glycogen can
be examined histochemically in both cryosections and formalinfixed,
paraffin-embedded sections by the periodic acid-Schiff (PAS)
reaction [46]. Glycogen sub-cellular distribution can be studied by
immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescent techniques by
using a specific antibody against glycogen [47–49], which was
developed by Dr Baba [50].
